Chapters

Chapters Work on a Local Level to Bridge Gaps!

Chapters are created to meet the volunteer and resource needs in a particular location/region of the state. Currently we have Chapters in Los Banos, California and Sacramento, California. Each Chapter determines how it will serve its community.

Los Banos Chapter: The Los Banos Chapter has focused on community needs by supporting the Soroptomists’ Homeless Support Program and Los Banos Animal Shelter. A scholarship program has been established and two high school seniors were awarded scholarships this year. The Chapter has also been providing support (purchasing gas and underwriting other miscellaneous expenses) to the families of two young cancer patients. Volunteers also support and participate in many other community events such as Relay for Life and the Henry Miller Wild West event. For more information about the Los Banos Chapter contact Chapter Chair Bekke Foell, bekkif@pacbell.net.

Sacramento Chapter: The Sacramento Chapter has supported the Casey Family/Welcome Home Program (a program providing young people aging out of the foster care system with furniture and supplies for their own apartments) by renting a storage unit. Chapter volunteers also work with smaller local groups in providing holiday meals, sack lunches, backpacks and other items to Sacramento’s under privileged children. Members participate in marathons and walk-a-thons, supporting the fundraising efforts of other groups. In addition, once a month Mercey Springs facilitates a sack lunch, summit meeting between the executives of other charitable groups to share resources and learn ways we can support each other.
